Permian Basin Unconventional Oil: Completions Optimization Summit
FOURTH NORTH AMERICAN UNCONVENTIONAL OIL SUMMIT FOCUSING ON COMPLETIONS OPTIMIZATION FOR WOLFBERRY, WOODFORD, BONE SPRING, AVALON, WOLFBONE, SPRABERRY AND OTHER UNCONVENTIONAL PLAYS IN THE PERMIAN BASIN
The Permian Basin of West Texas and Southeast New Mexico has been one of the most attractive and productive regions in the USA for the past century. Although its conventional reservoirs are heavily developed, today’s unconventional prospects offer great return on investment. Such unconventional plays as the Wolfberry, Bone Spring, Woodford, Spraberry, Avalon and others have already caught attention of the leading global operators and local independents. New completions techniques are continually being tested to cost-effectively maximize the oil recovery and reduce the risk of blowouts and environmental impact of the operations.
In the diverse environments of the Permian Basin, a key to success is using geological and petrophysical reservoir analysis to determine the most effective completions design needed. E&P companies of the Permian Basin are also testing various fracture fluids, choosing the most optimal proppant concentration and fracture sizes to get a greater rate of return and reduce the cost of their operations.
Permian Basin Unconventional Oil: Completions Optimization Summit 2011 will bring together the most innovative and knowledgeable experts from E&P companies across the Basin to discuss the results of using various completions designs and to establish how to cost-effectively evaluate reservoirs to reduce the cost of drilling and completions and optimize recovery rates.
Day One will host operators to discuss their choices of drilling and completions techniques and compare the results. Experts will be looking at every aspect of completions process such as fracture fluids, optimal concentration of proppant, optimal fracture sizes and disposal and recycling techniques for fracture water.
Day Two will establish which geological and petrophysical tools are the most efficient while looking at reducing the pre-production cost of the operations. Operators will be discussing how to reduce drilling and completions cost by implementing the most cost-effective evaluation tools for logging, core analysis and retrieving microseismic and seismic data.

LEARNING BENEFITS
KEY BENEFITS:
As Permian Basin operators are eager to benefit from the unconventional plays such as the Wolfberry, Wolfcamp, Spraberry and Bone Spring, it is crucial to…
…share challenges, solutions and emerging drilling and completions techniques to reduce the cost of operations and gain higher return on investment.
With oil prices remaining high and the price of gas remaining low, operators are concentrating on cost-effective development and exploitation of unconventional reserves in the Permian Basin, which remains one of the most productive areas in North America.
Operators are implementing the most innovative tools to evaluate potential oil recovery from unconventional plays and trying to achieve a greater rate of return without overspending on petrophysical analysis. To do this, they have to come together to share results and findings of installing these technologies to maximize the production rates from the Permian Basin’s unconventional plays.
Permian Basin Unconventional Oil: Completions Optimization Summit 2011 is the 4th North American Unconventional Oil Congress concentrating exclusively on optimizing drilling and completions strategies and use the most efficient evaluation tools to maximize oil recovery rate. The conference will invite VPs, Directors and technical experts from the Permian Basin’s leading operators as well as developing companies to share their most successful methodologies for exploiting the Permian Basin’s potential to the maximum while keeping the cost of the operations low.
Permian Basin E&Ps companies will be discussing some of the most pressing issues:
HORIZONTAL COMPLETIONS TECHNIQUES: Examining the most successful completions designs for horizontal wells in the Permian Basin to achieve the best rate of return
ADVANCES IN LOG ANALYSIS: Providing information on the most cost-effective ways to run log analysis and interpret the collected data
EFFICIENT DRILLING TOOLS: Achieving higher production rates by adopting the best methodologies and the most cost-effective drilling equipment at the unconventional plays of the Permian Basin
COLLECTING GEOLOGICAL DATA: Sharing information on how to measure crucial unconventional reserves rock parameters such as porosity and permeability to assess the most productive layer for horizontal drilling
FRACTURE FLUIDS CRITERIA: Looking at the results of fracture stimulation in different unconventional plays of the Permian Basin to choose the most cost-effective fracture fluid and optimal water and sand volumes
